Welcome to the Member's Bounce!

Greetings.  The folks at GolfQuest have been so kind as to provide me a place to write about gear, and hopefully give you, the golf traveler, some insights into what’s hot and what you might want to consider bagging for your next big trip.  I am here at your service.  My job is not done unless you are gaining insight into what you want to know about.  As such, please contact me and let me know what gear you want reviewed.  So, welcome, let’s get started!

So, Why me?
Much in the same way that the guys and girls at GolfQuest are obsessed with courses, I am obsessed with gear.  I scour the web for spy shots of the latest stuff, loiter at the local Edwin Watts and Golf Galaxy, and routinely annoy the pro at my club for any kind of insider information.  During my MBA coursework, I worked with Titleist on a long-term marketing plan for the wedge line, which gave me access to talk wedges with Bob Vokey himself.  Of course, when I got home from Carlsbad, I bought a wheel grinder/polisher and began terrorizing the used wedge rack at Golf Galaxy in order to find my own personal ‘holy grail’ of wedge grinds.  I’m currently teaching myself CAD/CAM and am trying to figure out how to sneak a tabletop mill past my wife and into the garage in order to make putters.  For fun.  In short, I am overly obsessed with all things golf equipment.

Whats in my bag?
My bag is an ever-changing work in progress.  I rarely keep clubs for more than a year, so the list below is more of a snapshot in time of WITB:
Driver:  I swap between the Adams 9064LS 9.5* Aldila RIP and a Taylormade SuperTri 9.5 Mitsubishi Diamana Whiteboard 63g
Woods: Titleist 909F 15* with a Fujikara TRTI46 shaft in x-flex (This club has had the longest time in my bag so far, at just over a year and change.  The shaft is too sweet to give up)
Irons:  I swap between the TItleist 710MB 3-PW True Temper DG S300 and a set of Scratch irons 3-5 AR1 and 6-PW SB1with KBS tours in 6.5 flex
Wedges: Also a swap between Vokey 52,56,60 and Scratch 53 and 58
Putter: Piretti Cortino
Because I am not associated with any one manufacturer, I have no stake in leading you down a wrong path to bad gear.  I promise to review fairly, and if something doesn’t make the cut, you’ll know.  Please enjoy the reviews, leave comments, email me at thememberbounce@gmail.com and be sure to follow me on twitter @thememberbounce!

  1. Is there any chance that you would review the Hammer X Driver? I heard that it can easily add 50 yards to your current drive and is dead straight. Thanks for your time and please keep up the good work. We always look forward to your reviews.
